| Inside the plant, a self-guided tour
follows the cheese making process. The shop sells gifts, cheese and ice cream. In the
parking lot is a reproduction of the Morning Star, the ship that once transported locally
made butter and cheese and now adorns the label of every Tillamook product. The Blue Heron French Cheese Company is located at milepost 64.5. It offers a variety of domestic and imported cheeses, including camembert & brie. Visit the tasting room which features fine selections from throughout Oregon. |

| Tillamook Bay Community College - Low tuition costs helps make your education affordable. Tillamook County bays and ocean beaches have the largest area of clam beds of any Oregon county. Claming & Crabbing are great here. Clam digging is fun, exciting and great food. Tillamook County offers fine boat moorages, boat launching ramps, guides, camping, sporting good stores, motels, resorts, and parks. There is Beachcombing,Tidepooling and Hunting & Hiking Trails to enjoy also. Whale Watching: See the beautiful migrating gray whales pass by. They travel along the Oregon coast, heading south to warmer water to calve and north to summer feeding grounds. They can be seen year round, but peak season is November through April. Visit the Tillamook County Pioneer Museum, established in 1935 with over 35,000 artifacts. Also see the Tillamook Naval Air Museum with over two dozen of the finest vintage flying aircraft in the nation all housed in a World War II blimp hangar, which is the largest wooden structure in the world! The planes consist of - Bf-109 Messerschmitt, Mk-8 Spitfire, TBM Avenger, F4U Corsair, J2F-6 Duck, SBD Dauntless, A-26 Invader, T-6 Texan, P-51 Mustang, PBY-5A Catalina, B-25 Mitchell, AD-4W Skyraider, AM-1 Mauler, FM-2 Wildcat, WWI Spad, P-38 Lightning, and more. Bird watching: Thousands of sea birds (more than a dozen species) return to the Oregon coast each spring to nest. Great Blue Heron, Bald eagles, & glaucous gulls, are common here year round. |
